What would summer be without several blockbusters featuring comic book superheroes? We’ve already seen Thor, now it’s time for The Green Lantern to land on the big screen.
The Green Lantern Synopsis
The Green Lantern is an elite group of warriors who have defended the universe for centuries. Their power derives from the Green Lantern ring each member wears. When a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance between good and evil, the very first human is selected to join their ranks. If he can harness his power and overcome his fears in time, he will be the key to defeating Parallax – and the greatest Green Lantern ever.
The Green Lantern Characters
Hal Jordan
Ryan Reynolds plays the lead role as the cocky test pilot who is selected to join the Green Lantern Corps. He brings to the Green Lanterns something they’ve never had: humanity. He is later a founding members of the Justice League of America (rumored to be a 2013 movie.)
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds play love interests in The Green Lantern.
Carol Ferris
Blake Lively plays the VP of Ferris aircraft, and Hal’s longtime love. In the comics, she is also Star Sapphire, a villainous who attempts to destroy the Green Lantern several times throughout the comic book series. Talk about romantic conflict!
Dr. Hector Hammond
Peter Sarsgaard is the eccentric and villainous scientist who discovers a meteor that greatly enlarges his brain and gives him psychic powers.
Thaal Sinestro
Mark Strong plays the Green Lantern who becomes Hal Jordan’s mentor. He rules the Corps with an iron-fist, and has doubts about whether Jordan should be allowed to join it. In comic book fashion, he will also go on to become a super-villain, but we don’t if that happens in this movie or not.
