Since the beginning of the Terminator series, John Connor, the person destined to lead the resistance against Skynet’s methodical destruction of the human race, has been pursued by the machines, who are intent on ensuring success for their mission to destroy all humans. Time and again, Skynet has sent Terminator after Terminator to destroy first a pregnant Sarah Connor, John Connor’s mother, and then a young John Conner himself. Each time the human resistance has sent back an aid to warn and protect the Connor family. Now, in a post-apocalyptic 2018, Skynet must finally contend with a grown up John, played by Christian Bale.

John has emerged from the bunker where he and his wife have been hiding to join the resistance. John quickly rises in the resistance to a leadership role, as his protectors from the future have foretold. John’s wife, Kate, uses her medical expertise to help injured human soldiers. Everything continues as it is supposed to until a stranger arrives at the door of the resistance.

When Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) appears, John Connor is surprised as none of his childhood visitors from the future mentioned this stranger. Marcus only remembers being on death row before the apocalypse and not much else. It is up to John to unravel whether Marcus is from the future or the past and how he fits in. John grows to trust Marcus to the point that he allows Marcus to accompany him and a few of other members of the resistance when they infiltrate Skynet’s headquarters.

The purpose of the journey to the heart of Skynet’s operations is to uncover the secret behind Skynet’s plans for its final onslaught against humankind. Here they expect to find and destroy the command module and hopefully incapacitate the Terminator soldiers killing humans on the ground.

In the new poster for the movie, you can see one of the soldiers in the Terminator army scanning the battlefield for his next human target. The machines in Terminator Salvation are redesigned so that they appear to be even more menacing then the machines in the first three films. Some of the Terminators are also kidnapping humans, in an attempt to replicate human tissue. Based on the first 3 movies, you can guess that their purpose is to send a machine that appears human back in time to kill Sarah Connor before she gives birth to John.

Here you get another view of the machine warrior. Also packing some serious heat, this Terminator is zeroing in on the audience, ready to eliminate an entire theater full of pesky humans. The Skynet machine decided that after the humans tried to pull the plug when it gained consciousness that the only way to protect itself would be to eliminate humankind. Unfortunately for Skynet, the nuclear blast that it set in motion did not kill all of the humans and Skynet had to create the Terminators in order to hunt down and eliminate those that remained.

John Connor, in the heart of the Skynet headquarters, witnesses the construction of the Terminators and searches for a way to protect humankind once and for all.

You can feel the tension between John Connor and the mysterious Marcus Wright. John wants to protect everything he’s fought for from harm, but he doesn’t want to turn away another person who might help the resistance.

Treading carefully inside the bowels of Skynet, John comes across an active Terminator. Christian Bale’s success in the Batman movies has made him an action draw at the box office and his work in Terminator Salvation will not disappoint hardcore action fans.

John Connor finishes off a Terminator that made the mistake of wandering under his landing helicopter. The human resistance shows no mercy to the machines. Part of what makes fighting the Terminators so difficult is the machines’ ability to continue killing, even after they’ve been severely damaged.

Although Arnold Schwarzenegger does not make an appearance, the heart pounding action that accompanies the latest installment of the Terminator series will keep you on the edge of your seat. You’ll also gain more insight into the battle between Skynet and the human resistance that wasn’t revealed in the previous films. Get ready for the action packed thrill ride that is Terminator Salvation.
