Action Movies

For the first time in a live action film adaptation, Paramount Pictures will bring you a story from the GI Joe: A Real American Hero franchise. With the multitude of characters, however, to choose from the comics and action figure lines, not every GI or villain will make it onto the big screen.

Duke

Field commander and second-in-command of the GI Joe team, Duke’s real name is First Sergeant Conrad Hauser. Duke has turned down repeated commissions, stating that his place is with the troops. He is one of the most loved team members, even though he was not in the original comic or an original action figure. Duke will be played by Channing Tatum.

Scarlett

The team’s primary Counter Intelligence asset, Master Sergeant Shana O’Hara, aka Scarlett, is a master of martial arts, though her weapon of choice is the crossbow. She is revealed as having a love interest in Snake Eyes. Scarlett was also the first female GI to be made into an action figure. Scarlett will be played by Rachel Nichols.

Ripcord

A High Altitude, Low Orbit parajumper, Ripcord, also known as Wallace Weems, has the most dangerous job of the group, consisting of diving out of an extremely high altitude plane, then opening his parachute at the lowest possible altitude to avoid detection. Ripcord will be played by Marlon Wayans.

Baroness Anastasia DeCobray

One of the group known as Cobra, Baroness Anastasia DeCobray is a spy who was once Duke’s fiancée, whom he left at the altar. The GI Joe movie’s femme fatale, she appears in the movie as an antagonist to the GI Joe team. The Baroness will be played by Sierra Miller.

Snake Eyes

A ninja master without the ability to speak, very little of Snake Eye’s history or personal details are available. He is a Sergeant First Class in the US Army, and has a romantic relationship with Scarlett. Snake Eyes is played in the movie by Ray Parks.

Storm Shadow

Sword-brother and nemesis to Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, aka Thomas S. Arashikage, is a ninja assassin for Cobra and a dangerous foe. In the comics, he is known for switching sides multiple times. In the movie, he is played by Lee Byung-Hun.

Hawk

The commander of the GI Joe team, Major General Clayton Abernathy is the team’s strategic leader. He is in charge of the entire GI project, and has excellent tactical planning skills and intelligence. Hawk will be played by Dennis Quaid.

Cobra Commander
Masked leader of the Cobra forces, the mysterious Cobra Commander is the main antagonist of GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra. Cobra Commander will be played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Breaker

An expert in covert electronics and communications technology, Breaker is the GI Joes’ communications officer and hacker. Breaker will be played by Saïd Taghmaoui.

Destro

Weapons designer and founder of the Military Armament Research Syndicate, Destro is the main villain for the early parts of the film. He is a cutthroat businessman from a long Scottish line of arms dealers. Destro will be played in the film by Christopher

Heavy Duty

Like his name suggests, Heavy Duty is the GI’s heavy weapons specialist. He is a tough and fearless character, with a surprising penchant for speaking in rhyme. In the movie, Heavy Duty will be played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
